Senior Embedded Software Engineer

Due to the success of wireless lighting and metering system products, including RF connectivity modules and gateways, this prestigious client is looking for an architect level Senior Embedded Software Engineer to work on the next generation of products.

This is a great opportunity to create a clean new design, making key design and architectural decisions, mentoring team members, and taking a wide range of features from ideas and requests to a successful volume product that is robust and scalable.

Essential skills and experience:

•Good scientific/engineering degree or equivalent
•Extensive embedded C development in a confined resource environment
•Wide knowledge and proven use of data structures and algorithms
•Effective communication skills (verbal & written)
•Proven ability and experience in technical planning, design and architecture
•Prior successful technical team lead experience
•Evangelist of version control
•Solid experience of unit and functional testing and test driven development
•Desire to drive improvements in the software process
•Natural ability and proven experience in mentoring / supervision
•Wide experience, knowledge and interest in programming / scripting languages

Desirable Skills and Experience:

•Experience / knowledge in software design methodologies (waterfall, agile, scrums)
•Ability to interface with other organisations
•Ability to network or active in the wider development community
•Experience / knowledge / design experience of common protocols
•Experience / knowledge of ISM band radio / ZigBee / IEEE 802.15.4
•Practised in ESD precautions
•Experience / knowledge of MSP430, H8, 8051, PIC, 68HC12, Cortex M0/M3
